Bright opportunities in field of journalism, mass communication: Kasbekar

Now there are four universities of journalism in the country

Indore(Team Newsbuddy): Senior media teacher and writer Prof. Sushma Kasbekar said that despite all the challenges, there are bright opportunities in the field of journalism and mass communication in India.

Prof. Kasbekar was talking to media persons in the ‘Rubaru’ program of State Press Club, MP. She told that when the course of journalism and mass communication started in Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in 1984, such courses were running only at three or four places in the country. Today, courses for media are being conducted in most of the colleges and universities of the country.

Prof. Kasbekar told that recently the government has also given the status of deemed university to Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) of New Delhi. Universities of journalism are already functioning in Bhopal, Raipur and Jaipur. Prof. Kasbekar said that the methods of journalism are changing in many countries of the world. Government interference in the media has started increasing. In our country too, the picture of journalism has changed a bit in recent years, but there are still enough opportunities and platforms to do better journalism in our country. In response to a question, he said that just like there is a decline in every field, similarly there has been a decline in education from media as well.

On this occasion, former Vice Chancellor Dr. Mansingh Parmar said that there are bright opportunities for training, study and research in mass communication in India. A good job can be found through a degree in fields like journalism, advertising and public relations. He said that communication was first added to journalism education and now technology has also been added, which has increased its importance.

In the beginning, State Press Club President Praveen Kumar Khaliwal, Chief General Secretary Navneet Shukla, Patron Rachna Johri, Meena Rana Shah Narendra Bhale, Kiran Moghe, Pankaj Kshirsagar Mohanlal Mantri, Sudesh Gupta, Santosh Rupita and Manish Nigam welcomed Prof. Kasbekar and presented him with a memento.
