Indian women’s compound team wins gold in Archery World Cup
1 min readNew Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): India won its first gold medal on Saturday by defeating Italy 236-225 in the women’s compound team event at the ongoing Archery World Cup Stage One in Shanghai. Top seeded Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Swamy and Preneet Kaur’s team lost only four points from 24 arrows to beat sixth seed Italy by a good margin and open their account in the season’s opening global showpiece.
In the first three attempts of six arrows each, Jyoti, Aditi and Preneet missed a perfect 10 only twice. The trio had taken a good lead of 178-171 over the Italian trio of Marcella Tonioli, Irene Franchini and Elisa Roner at the start. In the end, the Indian players lost two points, but it did not make much difference and they won the gold medal by a margin of 11 points.
