Covid fund misused by medical mafias in Chhattisgarh

2 min read

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): During Covid, the Government of India had given a fund of about one thousand crores to build additional ICUs in district hospitals and medical colleges. Of these, 100 beds were to be built in district hospitals and 150 beds in medical college hospitals. Most of the district hospitals and medical colleges did not build ICUs but bought equipment worth about Rs 700 crore for the sake of huge commission. Now if the building is not built, what to do with the equipment worth crores crores is lying in the junk. The government has sanctioned money for new medical colleges, its buildings have not been built yet, but the Khatral officers of the Health Department have started purchasing equipment. Medical mafias have destroyed the health system of Chhattisgarh for this the government will have to make extra effort.

What happened in the brainstorming meeting of Medical College Council?

It is worth noting that it was published in the daily newspaper on 30/04/21. In which the Medical College Council meeting was discussed after the government.

In view of the increasing infection of Corona, a plan was prepared to build a 250-bed ICU in Ambedkar Hospital. It was said that 100 crores would be spent on this. The government had also instructed the medical college management to prepare the DPR of ICU. In the meeting of the College Council at Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, the opinion of all the HODs of the departments was sought on the new unit and budget of the proposed ICU.

Due to Corona, it was said that these days there is a huge shortage of ICU and oxygen beds, and it was also said that Ambedkar Hospital currently has 106 beds in the ICU and only 60 ventilators. With the construction of a new 250-bed ICU, the number of beds will increase to 306. 100 ventilator beds will be kept in the new ICU. With this, the number of ventilators will also reach 160. Doctors say where will the new 250-bed ICU be built?
