Investigation of compassionate appointment scam during Corona period begins
2 min readRaipur (Team Newsbuddy): The Economic Offences Investigation Bureau (EOW) has now started the investigation of the compassionate appointment scam during the Corona period in Chhattisgarh. The EOW has sought all the documents related to the employees who were appointed from the Education Officer of the district. After investigation of the documents, major action can be taken against the officers and employees involved in the scam. It is noteworthy that many employees of the Education Department lost their lives during the Corona period, after which the department gave compassionate appointment to the relatives of the deceased employees. There was an allegation of huge rigging in this.
It was said in the complaint that the Education Department gave compassionate appointment without checking the affidavit. BJP had created a ruckus over this. This matter was also raised in the Assembly. Seeing the controversy increasing, 10 employees who gave wrong affidavit were dismissed from service. Along with this, in-charge DEO Dasarathi was also suspended. The rules of compassionate appointment state that if any member of the family of the deceased married government servant is already in government service, then no other member will be eligible for compassionate appointment.
Baijnath Ram was posted as Assistant Grade-2 in the Education Department at Government High School, Sitonga, Development Block, Jashpur, District Jashpur. He died on April 6, 2020 during Covid. On June 8, 2020, an application for compassionate appointment to his son Prem Kumar Ram was submitted to the District Education Officer’s office.
On the basis of the recommendation of the Compassionate Appointment Committee, he was given compassionate appointment on February 4, 2022, as Assistant Grade 3 at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhudkela, Development Block, Jashpur, District Jashpur. Prem Kumar Ram had hidden the information in the application form and affidavit submitted for compassionate appointment in place of his father that another son of the deceased and a brother of Prem Kumar Ram, Man Kumar Ram, is a peon in Sha. Puma. Vidyalaya Talsili Development Block, Manora, District Jashpur.
