Indian team leaves for Junior Davis Cup tournament in Kazakhstan

Narendra Bhale Indore: The responsibility of the Indian team for this competition has been handed over to Sajid Lodhi of Indore. Earlier in the year 2022 Davis Cup Asia Oceania tournament, the Indian team created history by winning the trophy under the guidance of Sajid. This was the first trophy won by the Indian junior team in the history of this tournament. Anil Dhupar, General Secretary of the All India Tennis Association, said that the Davis Cup is one of the oldest tennis tournaments at the international level. The Junior Davis Cup International Tournament is organized to provide a platform to budding players. This time the tournament will be held from 20 to 25 May in Shymkent, the third largest city of Kazakhstan. Sajid Lodhi of Indore has been made the non-playing captain and coach of the Indian team for this prestigious tournament. Sajid’s past record with junior players has been excellent. He has trained many international players. Under his guidance, the Indian junior team has also won the Asia Oceania tournament. This time too, it is expected that the team will perform better on the international stage. Madhya Pradesh Tennis Association President Anil Mahajan said that it is a matter of pride for Indore and the tennis world of Madhya Pradesh that a person from our state has got such an important responsibility. This will also encourage tennis players in the state.
Lodhi, who is leading the Indian team, said – It is an honour for me to get such an important responsibility from the All India Tennis Association. I will try to use my experience to provide technical guidance to the players and prepare a better strategy. The players of the Indian team are talented and if they play according to their ability, we will return with the trophy from the tournament. This tournament will be played on red gravel, for which the players have made better preparations. A preparation camp was organized at Delhi’s RK Khanna Stadium in April for the preparation of the Indian team. Madhya Pradesh Tennis Association and Daily College Management have congratulated Sajid on his selection.

Countries participating in the tournament: India, Kazakhstan, Australia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.
