Sakshi Malik , Satyawart Kadian offer prayers at Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple
2 min readUjjain(Team Newsbuddy): Renowned Indian wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Satyawart Kadian visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain to offer their prayers on Friday. The worship was conducted peacefully by priest Shailendra Sharma.
During their interaction with the media, they shared their accomplishments and future aspirations. Sakshi Malik highlighted her numerous achievements, including winning a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics and being honored with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. She expressed her pride in being the first Indian female wrestler to win an Olympic medal, achieving this historic feat in the 58 kg category at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Sakshi Malik once again garnered attention in 2023, when she, along with other prominent wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, led a protest against the former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The protest centered around serious allegations of sexual harassment against female players by Singh.
When asked about their plans, Sakshi stated, “We plan to teach what we have learned to our children and help them progress.” She emphasized, “We have our wrestling academy, and we will continue to develop it.”
Sakshi also delivered an empowering message for the women of India. She said, “I want to tell women that they are not less than anyone. Women can do all the work that men can do.”
Satyawart Kadian, who first represented India at the 2010 Youth Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the boys’ freestyle 100 kg category, shared his experiences and aspirations. His commitment to wrestling and dedication to inspiring the next generation of athletes remain unwavering.
