1 min readLilongwe (Team Newsbuddy): The plane carrying Malawi’s Vice-President Saulos Chilima and nine others has gone missing. This information has been given in a statement from the President’s Office. The Malawi Defense Force plane disappeared from the radar after taking off from the capital Lilongwe on Monday morning. The President ordered a search and rescue operation after losing contact with the plane. The plane was scheduled to land at Mzuzu International Airport in the north of the country after 10 am local time.
After learning of the incident, Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera canceled his trip to the Bahamas. The President’s Office said that the public will be informed about the incident only after the whole situation is clear. According to the report, the reason for the disappearance of the plane is not yet known. Malawi’s information minister Moses Kunkuyu told the BBC that efforts were ongoing to find the plane.
