2 min read

Indore (Team Newsbuddy): Hockey has brought India the most success in the world’s biggest sporting event, Olympics. It is a matter of pride for us that the hockey team brought the first Olympic gold to independent India and the captain of this team was our club’s Gaurav Kishan Lal.

Former international player Mirranjan Negi expressed these views in front of young players in a seminar organized at Prakash Hockey Club on Olympic Day. Addressing the program, Executive President of Hockey Indore Organization Devkinandan Silawat said that hockey has received the honor of national sport in India only due to its success in Olympics. The world used to call Major Dhyanchand the magician of hockey. Due to his charismatic game, India won gold medals in three consecutive Olympic Games in the years 1928, 1932 and 1936. The ball would not separate from Dhyanchand’s hockey stick. Due to this, once his stick was even examined to see if there was some element like a magnet in it. Dhyanchand ji was also associated with Prakash Club and his son and former hockey captain Ashok Dhyanchand is also one of the patrons of Prakash Club.
NIS coach Ashok Yadav, Sarwar Khan, Vinita Negi, Dr. Mandakini Silawat, Abhishek Dudharia (Film Director Mumbai), Mahesh Shivhare (Executive Engineer, NVDA, Mandleshwar) etc. also addressed the gathering during the programme. Guests were welcomed by Chunky Kumawat, Prem Prajapat, Dr. Rafiq Khan, Shailendra Verma, Bunty Yadav and Anish Khan. The programme was conducted by Prathameshraje Silawat. Halim Khan expressed his gratitude.
