Cabinet expansion: Will MLAs have to wait longer?

2 min read

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): A high profile meeting of BJP was held in the capital Raipur and late night on the same day, the state government issued an order to hand over the additional charge of Parliamentary Affairs Minister to Minister Kedar Kashyap. This department was vacant after the resignation of Minister Brijmohan Agarwal. The monsoon session of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly is after a few days. The opposition would have unnecessarily made it an issue, so the government had to decide on the additional charge. After giving the Parliamentary Affairs Department to Kedar Kashyap, it is obvious that the cabinet will not be expanded at least before the assembly session. But after that when…? If top sources of BJP are to be believed, the cabinet expansion can now go on till after November. In fact, the party feels that the result of keeping two posts of ministers vacant can be seen in the urban body elections. All the MLAs will work in their respective areas in the hope of becoming ministers. Just like they worked in the Lok Sabha elections. In the assembly elections, Amar Agarwal’s lead in Bilaspur was 28959 thousand, but in the Lok Sabha elections it increased to 52432 thousand. That is, almost double. Similarly, Rajesh Moonat’s lead in Raipur West was 41229 and in Lok Sabha Ajay Chandrakar won by 8090 votes in 87 NEW Kurud and got a lead of 24929 votes in LOW. That is, three times. This shows that the party will also benefit in the urban bodies. But the question is that in the areas of those ministers in whom the party’s lead in the Lok Sabha elections decreased badly or lagged behind… if the performance did not come in the urban body elections, will the party make a replacement formula for such ministers as well? Because, Modi also had an impact in the Lok Sabha elections, the urban body elections will purely be a litmus test for the ministers. However, if we talk about cabinet expansion, then the MLAs who are waiting to take oath after getting their kurta, pyjama and jacket stitched will have to wait longer.
