1 min readIndore(Team Newsbuddy): Renowned for its exemplary cleanliness and top ranking in the Clean Air Survey-2023, Indore has further strengthened its air quality monitoring capabilities with the inauguration of four new Air Quality Monitoring (AQM) stations. This strategic move highlights the city’s dedication to maintaining its leadership in environmental management.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav stated, “Indore, acclaimed for its excellence in cleanliness and water management, now also leads in air quality. The data from these new monitoring stations provides a comprehensive view of the city’s air quality, assisting scientists and policymakers in improving air quality to safe levels.”
Municipal Commissioner Shivam Verma noted the significance of these advancements, calling them both necessary and promising for the city’s clean air initiatives. Dr. Prakash Doraiswami, Director of Air Quality at WRI India, underscored the importance of the new stations: “Continuous monitoring in previously unmonitored areas will enable the implementation of evidence-based policies to enhance air quality.”
With the addition of these four new stations, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has increased the total number of AQM stations in the city to eight. This includes one station from the Pollution Control Board (PCB) and three from Clean Air Catalyst for scientific research. The new stations are strategically located in Regional Park, Residency Area, Meghdoot Garden, and the Airport area, ensuring a more accurate and comprehensive assessment of air quality across Indore.
