IIT Indore unveils innovative mobile apps ‘Krishi Sewa’, ‘Crop Doctor’ to revolutionize Indian agriculture

Indore(Team Newsbuddy) : In a groundbreaking step towards modernizing Indian agriculture, IIT Indore has developed two cutting-edge mobile applications, ‘Krishi Sewa’ and ‘CropDoctor’, designed to empower farmers with advanced tools for crop management, disease identification, and pest control.
The ‘Krishi Sewa’ app, crafted by a team of researchers under the guidance of Prof. Aruna Tiwari from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Indore, in collaboration with Dr. Shashi Rawat, Principal Scientist at ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal, is set to transform farming practices across the nation. This app provides farmers with real-time access to critical information on plant health, covering essential crops like potato, wheat, rice, soybean, and mustard.
Similarly, ‘CropDoctor’, developed under the supervision of Prof. Aruna Tiwari and Dr. Milind Ratnparkhe, Principal Scientist at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soybean Research, Indore, is tailored to address the specific needs of soybean farmers. The Android-based app offers comprehensive support on disease and pest management, soil care, and optimized farming practices, making it an invaluable resource for enhancing soybean productivity.
Prof. Suhas Joshi, Director of IIT Indore, highlighted the significance of these initiatives, stating, “Krishi Sewa and CropDoctor are at the forefront of technological innovation in Indian agriculture. These apps are poised to significantly boost productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers by providing them with the tools and knowledge to manage crop health more effectively.
Currently, both applications are in the copyright protection stage, securing their unique features and content. By harnessing advanced technologies, ‘Krishi Sewa’ and ‘CropDoctor’ ensure precise and reliable identification of diseases and pests, offering farmers actionable insights that are crucial for modern agriculture.
Together, these apps represent a significant leap forward in the digitization of Indian agriculture, promising a more productive and sustainable future for farmers nationwide.
