PIMR leads Candlelight March to protest Kolkata rape

Murder case: Stand for justice, moral values

Indore(Team Newsbuddy): On India’s 78th Independence Day, the Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR) in Indore expressed solidarity against the tragic rape and murder of a young female doctor in Kolkata. Led by PIMR Director Col. Dr. S. Raman Iyer, students and faculty organized a candlelight march to seek justice and advocate for a collective revival of moral values in society. The march began at the PIMR UG campus, passed through the Brilliant Convention Centre, and concluded back at the campus. Participants, holding candles and mourning the loss, gathered to honor the victim. The marchers carried placards demanding swift and strict action against the perpetrators, and a two-minute silence was observed in memory of the victim.
Dr. Davish Jain, Chairman of the Prestige Education Foundation, strongly condemned the brutal attack on a young doctor in Kolkata, emphasizing that it is a crime that reflects poorly on our nation’s conscience. He affirmed Prestige’s commitment to ensuring the dignity and safety of every female student, faculty member, and staff, highlighting the institution’s dedication to not only intellectual growth but also moral and ethical development of students.
`The candlelight march served not only as a tribute to the victim but also as a powerful reminder of PIMR’s dedication to social causes. Through this march, the institute reaffirmed its role in shaping morally conscious individuals who are prepared to stand against injustice and uphold the values of dignity and respect for all”, added Dr Jain
Col Dr. S Raman Iyer also expressed deep sorrow and outrage, saying that the incident strikes at the heart of the values cherished by society. As a leading academic institution, he emphasized the responsibility to raise awareness, promote moral integrity, and create a safer environment for all. He stressed the importance of instilling strong moral values in students and called for proactive steps from educational institutions and society as a whole to prevent such tragedies.
