More than 10 people gang-raped a tribal woman, 7 accused arrested.
1 min readRaigarh (Team Newsbuddy): A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in the district, where more than 10 people gang-raped a tribal woman in village Kasaipali of Pusaur block. Taking action, the police have arrested 7 accused so far, including a minor.
The incident happened last night, when the 27-year-old victim, who lives with her mother in Sodekela village separately from her husband, had gone out to see the fair. While returning, some youths surrounded the woman on the banks of a pond near Kasaipali and took her to the bushes and raped her one by one. The woman was held hostage for about 3 hours. Around 10 pm, the woman somehow called the Sarpanch and informed about the incident. The Sarpanch reached the spot and rescued the woman and informed the police.
The police took swift action and arrested 7 people. All the accused are residents of nearby villages Ghutku Pali and Kasaipali, whose age is said to be between 20 and 22 years. The police have registered a case of gang rape against the accused and an in-depth investigation of the case is underway.
The villagers believe that more people may be involved in this incident, who have not been arrested yet. The victim’s mother has demanded the strictest punishment for the accused. The police have started an investigation based on the woman’s statement and the search for other possible accused is on.
