Nine Maoists killed in encounter near Dantewada
1 min readRaipur(Team Newsbuddy): Nine alleged Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces this morning in the border area of Dantewada and Bijapur districts of Chhattisgarh.
According to a CRPF official, on the morning of Tuesday, September 3, a joint team of District Reserve Guard and Central Reserve Security Forces went out on an anti-Naxal operation.
The encounter started at around 10:30 am on September 3 in the forests of Lohagaon Pidia in the border area of Dantewada and Bijapur.
Giving detailed information on the matter, Dantewada District Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai said, “On September 2, information was received about the presence of Maoists of West Bastar Division, Darbha Division and PLGA Company Number Two at Andri, Purangal which comes under police station Kirandul. After this information, a joint operation was launched with the Bastar Fighter team, DRG and CRPF team. Dantewada police said in a statement, “On September 3, when the security forces laid siege, the Maoists started firing, in retaliation to which 9 uniformed Maoists died.” Police further said that a large quantity of SLR, 303 rifle and 315 bore rifle along with other weapons and Naxal material have also been recovered from the spot. Since January 2024, more than 140 Maoists have been killed in encounters with security forces in Chhattisgarh. Of these, more than 130 Maoists have died in Bastar division
