Indore (Team Newsbuddy): In a significant development for the higher education sector in Madhya Pradesh, Prof Rakesh Singhai, the founding director of Shivpuri Institute of Technology (SIT) – a constituent institute of Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), an A+ accredited university in the state. The official order was issued by the Chancellor of state universities, Mangubhai Patel, on Saturday, marking the beginning of Prof Singhai’s four-year tenure at the helm of one of Central India’s leading educational institutions.
Hailing from Jabalpur, Prof Singhai brings a wealth of academic experience and expertise to his new role. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from a local institution, followed by an MTech and PhD from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. He began his academic journey as a lecturer at the Government Engineering College, Bhopal, which later evolved into RGPV. In 2020, Prof Singhai took on the pivotal role of founding director at SIT, guiding the newly established institution with his visionary leadership.
Prof Singhai succeeds Prof Renu Jain, who made history as the first woman to serve as Vice Chancellor of DAVV and leaves a remarkable legacy as the first VC in 21 years to complete her term successfully. Prof Jain served through a transitional period under the university’s Section 52 mandate and then fulfilled a full four-year tenure, marking an important milestone in DAVV’s history. She will remain in charge until Prof Singhai formally assumes his new role
