Indore Horror: Speeding SUV drags man for 1.5 km, leaves him, pregnant wife critically injured
2 min readIndore (Team Newsbuddy): A shocking accident in Indore has left a man and his pregnant wife in critical condition after they were hit by a speeding SUV, which dragged the man for nearly 1.5 kilometers . The incident occurred near Emerald School under the Rau police station’s jurisdiction while the couple was setting up their earphone stall on the roadside with their three-year-old daughter.
Witnesses report that the SUV dragged the man from Emerald School to Reti Mandi Square before alert passersby finally managed to stop the vehicle. The driver, identified as Adarsh Gurjar, allegedly driving under the influence, was detained by Rajendra Nagar police while six individuals, including three girls, who were in the car fled the scene.
Eyewitness Golu Patel, who was passing by, noticed the man trapped under the vehicle, crying for help, and quickly rallied others to chase the SUV on bikes. They managed to stop the vehicle and overturned it to rescue the severely injured man, whose back was broken, and leg burned due to contact with the car’s silencer.
The driver, Adarsh Gurjar, owner of Sanwariya Cafe in the Bhanwarkuan area and a resident of Khandwa, claimed he was unaware that someone was stuck under the car since the windows were rolled up. Police station in-charge Neeraj Birthare said that timely intervention by the police prevented the situation from escalating into mob violence, as enraged locals were on the verge of attacking the driver and setting the vehicle on fire.
Both the victims were rushed to MY Hospital and later referred to MTH Hospital for advanced treatment. Their identities are yet to be confirmed. The condition of the man remains critical, while his pregnant wife is under close observation. The police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the tragic accident.
