Ambikapur gets air connectivity, first flight takes off
1 min readAmbikapur (Team Newsbuddy). Ambikapur is now connected to major cities of the country. The first flight took off from Maa Mahamaya Airport Darima to Raipur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated Maa Mahamaya Airport Darima from Varanasi. During this, Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai along with other representatives were also present.
The air strip at Maa Mahamaya Airport in Darima, Ambikapur has been upgraded under the Regional Connectivity Scheme of the Government of India. This airport is spread over 365 acres. It has been prepared at a cost of Rs 80 crore. This airport is of 3 CVFR category. 72 seater aircraft can land in it. The terminal building has been expanded as per the estimated capacity of 5 lakh passengers annually.
As per the proposed schedule of regular flights from this airport, weekly flights will be available from Ambikapur to various major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Jabalpur, Jagdalpur, and Prayagraj.
Proposed Flight Schedule:
Monday & Friday: From Ambikapur → Bilaspur → Delhi → Jabalpur → Jagdalpur → Bilaspur → Delhi.
Tuesday & Thursday: From Ambikapur → Kolkata → Bilaspur → Kolkata → Delhi → Prayagraj → Bilaspur → Prayagraj → Delhi.
