1 min readIndore(Team Newsbuddy): Police have registered
a case against a man accused of exploiting a woman through false promises of marriage, coercing her into a relationship, and later pressuring her to convert religions. When she refused, he allegedly threatened her life.
According to the complaint, the victim moved to Indore in 2018 for work, where she met co-worker Sadik Sheikh. The two developed a relationship, and Sadik proposed marriage. On March 1, 2019, he reportedly visited her home and coerced her into an intimate relationship under the pretense of a future together. However, each time the woman sought commitment, Sadik deflected, urging her to convert to his religion before marriage.
Despite his promises, Sadik later married another woman, abruptly cutting contact with the victim. In 2021, he reconnected, claiming he had divorced and expressed intentions to marry her. Trusting his words, the victim resumed their relationship, during which he allegedly continued to exploit her under repeated assurances of marriage. Any attempts by her to seek clarity reportedly led to physical assault and death threats.
After confiding in friends and family, the victim courageously filed a complaint. Police at Lasudia station have now launched an investigation into Sadik Sheikh, probing charges of deceit, coercion, and threats.
