Indore (Team Newsbuddy): Organized by Madhya Pradesh Tennis Association under the aegis of Indian Tennis Association and sponsored by Godrej Properties Ltd. and Yellow Diamond, third seeded Oliver Crawford of Great Britain, fourth seeded Florent Bocuse of France, Alistair Gray of Great Britain and Sameer Banerjee of America secured a place in the semi-finals in the singles category of the ITF World Tennis Tour M – 25 ( Men ) $ 30,000 tennis tournament.
In the first quarter final of the singles category of this prestigious international tennis tournament being played at Indore Tennis Club, Sameer Banerjee of America entered the semi-finals by defeating Maxim Zhulov of Russia 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a spectacular fashion. Sameer hit 8 aces in this match , while Maxim hit 3 aces. However, Sameer committed three double faults while Maxim committed only 1 double fault. Sameer displayed excellent service and superb back hand and defeated Maxim in a match that lasted 1 hour and 54 minutes. After losing the first set, Sameer made a strong comeback. In the second set, Sameer did not give Maxim a chance to make a comeback , which benefited him in the fourth set as well and he won the match by winning two consecutive sets.
In the second quarterfinal, third seed Oliver Crawford of Great Britain defeated Ukraine’s Urli Zhavakian 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 in a marathon match that lasted 2 hours and 37 minutes and ensured his place in the semifinals. Oliver won the first set and was close to victory in the second set as well , but Urli made a strong comeback and tied the match 1-1 . In this match, Oliver showed excellent placement and forehand play , which mesmerized Indore Darshan. He hit a total of 4 aces in the match and did not commit a single double fault. Whereas Urli committed 12 double faults and hit 6 aces.
In the third quarter final, France’s Florent Bocuse defeated Russia’s Igor Agafonov 6-3, 4-1 . After winning the first set easily, Florent was also leading in the second set , but Igor withdrew from the match due to health problems. In this way, after a little struggle, Florent easily managed to make it to the last four.
In the fourth quarter final, Great Britain’s Alistair Gray defeated top seed Mathis Ehard 6-1, 2-1 to reach the last four. In this match Mathis appeared troubled by a strain in his leg muscles . He also took medical advice , but thought it wise to leave the match so that the problem does not worsen. In this way, Alistair also easily reached the semi-finals.

Suresh , Somani reach doubles final
India’s Dakshineshwar Suresh and Parikshit Somani displayed better coordination and secured their place in the final by defeating India’s Dev Javia and Chirag Duhan 6-3, 7-6(1) in the first semi-final of the doubles category. After winning the first set easily in this match that lasted for about 1 hour 18 minutes, Dev and Chirag tried their best to make a comeback in the second set and took the set to tie-break , but luck did not favor them here and Suresh and Somani won the match.
In the other semi-final, Alistair Gray of Great Britain and Mathis Ehard of France defeated Aryan Shah and Ishak Iqbal of India 6-3, 6-4 to enter the final. In this match that lasted for one hour and 7 minutes, the players of Great Britain and France maintained their dominance in both the sets and did not let the Indian pair dominate. Strong coordination in the match and strong play at the net brought Alistair and Mathis closer to the title.
