Indore’s ₹450 crore leap: Major projects to transform city infrastructure

Indore: Madhya Pradesh’s commercial capital, is set to witness a major development boost with the approval of projects worth over ₹450 crores in the Mayor-in-Council meeting chaired by Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav. Key initiatives include the construction of three Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange Project costing ₹417 crores, a ₹15 crore sports complex in Nanda Nagar, and a ₹6 crore bridge connecting Malwa Mill to Patnipura Square. Additionally, ₹17 crores have been allocated for sump wells to address waterlogging issues.
Under the Namami Gange Project, STPs with capacities of 120 MLD (Kabitkhedi), 40 MLD (Begumkhedi Kanadia), and 35 MLD (Lakshmibai Tiraha, VIP Road) will be built. The Nanda Nagar Sports Complex promises to provide world-class facilities for the city’s sports enthusiasts, while the new bridge aims to ease traffic congestion between Malwa Mill and Patnipura.
Other approvals include the reconstruction of demolished Sulabh complexes through CSR funds, the laying of sewage lines, and appointing consultants to monitor key construction projects.
The Mayor emphasized that these initiatives will transform Indore’s infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for its residents, solidifying the city’s reputation as a model of urban development.
