: In a major push to ensure world-class arrangements for Simhastha-2028, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that Indore and Ujjain divisions, home to two revered Jyotirlingas, will serve as pivotal hubs for religious activities and pilgrim influx during the grand event. Chairing the second meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Simhastha-2028 at the Ministry in Bhopal, Dr. Yadav unveiled a roadmap to ensure the timely execution of infrastructure and development projects while emphasizing innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.

Highlighting the significance of preparedness, Dr. Yadav directed officials to complete tender processes and obtain approvals for long-duration infrastructure projects by March 2025. Critical works like water supply, sewerage systems, and expansion or construction of bus terminals in Ujjain and Indore must also be finalized by this timeline. All departments have been tasked with giving final shape to infrastructure development plans by September 2025. Weekly monitoring of construction projects has been mandated to eliminate delays.

To ensure Simhastha-2028 adopts the best global practices, Dr. Yadav proposed studying the successful models of Prayagraj and Haridwar Kumbhs. Post the Prayagraj Kumbh, Ujjain will host a conference to explore the use of drone technology, artificial intelligence, and crowd management systems, incorporating insights from leading companies and startups to create a seamless and safe experience for pilgrims.

Recognizing the anticipated influx of devotees, the Chief Minister ordered the formation of a special cell to coordinate with the Railways for smooth transportation. He also called for the development of dedicated access routes to the ghats and emphasized that construction projects across Ujjain, Indore, and Dewas must focus on sewerage, cleanliness, and greenery to enhance aesthetics and sustainability.

For better tourist convenience, an upgradation plan for dharamshalas (pilgrim accommodations) has also been outlined. Additionally, administrative structures in key departments will be expanded immediately to meet the organizational demands of Simhastha-2028.

Dr. Yadav’s ambitious vision also involves fortnightly monitoring of progress by senior officials and direct state intervention for any roadblocks. “Simhastha-2028 is not just an event but an opportunity to set new benchmarks for spiritual tourism, innovation, and infrastructure. Indore and Ujjain divisions will lead the way as exemplary centers of devotion and development,” he stated.

This mega initiative is expected to transform Simhastha-2028 into a global showcase of India’s cultural and religious heritage while ensuring a memorable experience for millions of pilgrims.
