5 convicts sentenced to death in minor girl gangrape

Korba(Team Newsbuddy). Four years ago in Garh-Uprora, after gangraping a minor daughter in front of her father, both of them killed their four-year-old innocent granddaughter. In the gangrape and triple murder case, the court has sentenced five accused to death and one accused to life imprisonment with hard labour.

The whole case
The incident took place on 29 January 2021 in Garh Uprora under Vananchal Lemru police station. Santram Manjhwar, 45, a resident of Satrenga of Lemru police station, lived in a Pahaadi Korwa family and worked as a cattle herder for Santram. The Pahaadi Korwa family consisted of husband-wife, their 16-year-old daughter and a four-year-old innocent.

According to the agreement, Santram was to be given 10 kg rice per month and eight thousand rupees a year in exchange for grazing the cattle, but Santram used to give only six thousand rupees. When asked for the savings, Santram used to argue and procrastinate.

The family was returning home after settling the accounts
On January 29, the Korwa family said that they would not work and after settling their accounts, they started returning to the village. They were standing at the bus stand of village Satrenga when Santram Manjhwar arrived on a bike with his friends Anil Kumar Sarathi (20 years), Umashankar Yadav (22 years), Pardeshi Das (35 years), Anand Das (26 years) and Abdul Jabbar alias Vicky.

They made them sit on the bike on the pretext of dropping them home
As per the pre-planned plan, they told the Pahari Korwa family that they did not know when the bus would arrive. So they would drop everyone on the bike. On being pressurized, the Korwa family agreed. Meanwhile, the woman was sent ahead on a bike, while Pahari Korwa, his minor daughter and innocent granddaughter remained behind.

Gang rape of daughter in front of father
Santram made Pahari Korwa drink alcohol. After this, everyone took some distance and gang raped the minor daughter. When the father protested, he was attacked with sticks and stones and killed. This resulted in the death of Pahari Korwa. To hide the crime, the daughter and the innocent child were also killed by pelting stones.

In this case, the police arrested all the accused and presented them before Additional Sessions Judge FTSC (POCSO). Special Public Prosecutor Sunil Kumar Mishra, while pleading the case, said that the case was heard in the court of Judge Dr. Mamta Bhojwani.

5 convicts sentenced to death, one to life imprisonment

After the hearing, the court pronounced the sentence after the accused were found guilty. Under this, the court sentenced Santram Manjhwar, Abdul Jabbar, Anil Sarthi, Anand Das and Pardeshi to death under various sections. While their partner Umashankar Sashram has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

The court has said that the accused should be hanged till they die. This is the first case
of a court in the district sentencing five people to death at the same time.
