1 min readNew Delhi(Team Newsbuddy) : The Government of India can acquire the property worth crores of actor Saif Ali Khan’s family in Bhopal under the Enemy Property Act. The Madhya Pradesh High Court has told Saif Ali Khan that if he wants to challenge the Government of India’s decision to acquire these properties, he should file an appeal with the Appellate Officer for Enemy Property Matters. According to media reports, the value of these properties is around Rs 15,000 crore.
The matter is about the property of Hamidullah Khan, the last Nawab of the erstwhile Bhopal state. Hamidullah Khan was Saif Ali Khan’s great-grandfather. His second daughter Sajida Sultan was married to Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan of Pataudi, who was Saif’s grandfather. After India’s independence from the British, Hamidullah Khan chose India and allowed the Bhopal state to become a part of the Republic of India. However, his elder daughter Abida Sultan, who was considered his successor at that time, went to Pakistan in 1950. This is where the story of the property of Bhopal State being declared enemy property begins.
