: In a resounding call for social justice and constitutional integrity, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led a massive rally in Mhow, the birthplace of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, under the banner ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan.’ The event, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, attracted over 100,000 supporters, signaling Congress’s renewed resolve to counter BJP dominance in Madhya Pradesh and across India.
In a passionate speech, Gandhi emphasized the urgent need to protect the Constitution from what he described as systematic assaults by the BJP and its ideological ally, the RSS. “The core values of our Constitution—equality, liberty, and justice—are under threat. We must defend them,” he declared.
A central theme of Gandhi’s address was the demand for a nationwide caste census, which he framed as essential for achieving true equality. “Without understanding the socio-economic realities of marginalized communities, how can we ensure justice and fair distribution of resources?” he asked, aligning the Congress’s agenda with the aspirations of Dalits, Adivasis, and other disadvantaged groups.
Gandhi also criticized the BJP government’s economic policies, accusing them of favoring billionaires while neglecting farmers and small businesses. “India’s wealth is being siphoned to a handful of individuals while the backbone of our economy—farmers, laborers, and small entrepreneurs—are left to struggle,” he said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
The choice of Mhow, the land of Ambedkar’s birth, added a powerful historical and emotional context to the rally. Gandhi linked contemporary struggles for social equity to Ambedkar’s vision, invoking the story of Eklavya to highlight systemic barriers that hinder marginalized communities from reaching their full potential.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other senior leaders attended the rally, which showcased the party’s organizational strength and commitment to grassroots mobilization. Positioned as a crucial moment in Congress’s comeback strategy, the event began a series of padayatras, public meetings, and seminars aimed at engaging diverse demographics across the state.
“The land of Ambedkar reminds us of the sacrifices made to shape India’s democratic foundation,” Gandhi said. “We must rise against forces that seek to dismantle this legacy and stand united for justice and equality.”
With its focus on constitutional values, social equity, and economic justice, the rally signals Congress’s intent to reestablish itself as a formidable political force. Whether the momentum generated in Mhow translates into electoral success remains to be seen. Still, the rally has undoubtedly set the tone for the party’s battle against BJP’s dominance in the months ahead. #JaiBapuJaiBhim
