Rahul Gandhi’s media allegations spark outrage; Indore media seeks apology

2 min read

Indore(Team Newsbuddy): The Indore Press Club has strongly condemned the controversial statement made by Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, regarding the media. Speaking at the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan” conference organized by the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee on January 27 in Mhow, the birthplace of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Gandhi accused the media of being a puppet institution controlled by the country’s top industrialists.
Terming the statement as deeply objectionable and unjustified, Indore Press Club President Arvind Tiwari criticized Gandhi for undermining the integrity of the media. “The language used by Rahul Gandhi is highly condemnable and showcases the level of politics he is engaging in. It is unfortunate because the media, including in Indore and across the country, has been diligently covering Congress’s events and amplifying public concerns. His remarks suggest a sense of political despair, leading him to target democracy’s fourth pillar repeatedly,” Tiwari said.
The press club emphasized that the media plays a crucial role in upholding democratic values, and such baseless comments tarnish its dignity. The club further stated that Gandhi’s remarks reflect a lack of respect for the democratic institution that serves as a bridge between the government and the people.
In light of these developments, the Indore Press Club has demanded that Rahul Gandhi immediately express regret and issue a public apology for his disparaging comments. “Such statements not only damage the reputation of the media but also harm the spirit of democracy,” Tiwari added.
