Indore (Team Newsbuddy): In the International World Tennis Tour Junior ITF J- 60 Grade – 4 Tennis Championship organized by Madhya Pradesh Tennis Association second seeded Praneel Sharma and Harshini Nagaraj won the boys and girls singles titles respectively. Harshini, playing with Diya Ramesh, achieved double success by winning the girls doubles title. In the boys doubles, second seeded Samarth Sahita and Tanush Ghildayal became the winners. Indore’s Pehal had to face defeat in the girls doubles final.
In this prestigious international junior tennis tournament played at Indore Tennis Club, the title match of the boys category was between top ranked Samarth Sahita and second ranked Pranil Sharma. Both the players had reached the finals by performing brilliantly. But in the final, Pranil played better against Samarth and won the title by winning the match 6-2, 7-6(5). In the first set, Pranil easily won the set by breaking Samarth’s service continuously. In the second set, Pranil faced tough competition from Samarth and the match went to tiebreak. Both the players were playing while saving their service, due to which the decision of the second set had to be taken by tiebreak. In the tiebreak, Pranil displayed excellent service and better forehand and forced Samarth to commit mistakes and Pranil won the championship.
The final match of girls singles was between first ranked Diya Ramesh and second ranked Harshini Nagaraj. Like in boys category, both the top players were face to face in girls category too. Harshini displayed a great game and easily defeated top ranked Diya Ramesh 6-3, 6-1 to win the title. In this match, Diya made a lot of mistakes, which benefited Harshini and she got the honor of being the winner. Both also played as partners in doubles.
Diya – Harshini , Samarth-Tanush became champions in doubles
The title match of girls doubles was between the top ranked pair of Harshini Nagaraj and Diya Ramesh and the unseeded Pahal Kharadkar and Sejal Bhutada. Pahal and Sejal, who had given a brilliant performance till the final, could not work their magic against the top seeded pair. Harshini and Diya easily won the final match 6-4, 6-2. With this victory, Harshini also won the doubles title after the singles title.
In the boys doubles final, second seeded Samarth Sahita and Tanush Ghildayal defeated top seeded Aditya Mor and Praneel Sharma 6-3, 6-1. The excellent coordination of Samarth and Tanush proved to be too much for the top seeded pair and they easily won the title.
The prize distribution was held under the hospitality of Muktesh Singh, Director of Emerald Heights School. The special guest was Gopal Agarwal, Director of Golden International School. On this occasion, ITC Trustee Hemant Patwa, B.S. Chhabra, Chief Referee Anton D’Souza were present. The event was conducted by Ravi Patel.
The winner of the title gets 60 points
On winning this tournament, a singles player gets 60 ITF points which have proved to be important in increasing their ranking. The runner-up gets 36 points , semi-finalists get 18 points, quarter-finalists get 10 and pre-quarter-finalists get 5 points. Similarly, on winning the doubles title, 45 points are given, runner-up gets 27 points, semi-finalist gets 14 and quarter-finalist gets 7 ITF points.
