Chhattisgarh Rail Budget 2025-26: Historic investment, new heights of development

Bilaspur/ Raipur (Team Newsbuddy) The Budget 2025-26 presented by the Indian Railways has made a historic investment for rail development works in the state of Chhattisgarh, which will lead to the expansion and modernization of the rail network in the state.
Major budget allocation and development works:
Budget allocation: ₹6,925 crore
New rail line: Construction of 1,125 km of new tracks in the last 11 years.
Electrification: 100% of Chhattisgarh’s railway network electrified, 350 km electrified in the last 11 years.
Currently ongoing projects: 2,768 km of new rail tracks in 26 projects, total cost ₹38,378 crore.
New Project: Recently approved Sardega–Bhalumuda new double line (37 km, ₹1,360 crore)
32 AMRUT Stations: Modernization of 32 railway stations at a cost of ₹1,672 crore
Kavach Security System: Kavach work approved in 1,105 route km, work in progress in 365 route km.
Station Redevelopment:
Raipur Station (₹463 crore): Building construction in progress.
Durg Station (₹456 crore): Removal of old structure and construction work in progress.
Bilaspur Station (₹435 crore): Barricading of main building completed, utility shifting work in progress.
- Improvement in Passenger Amenities (in last 11 years):-
- 148 rail bridges and underbridges constructed.
- Wi-Fi facility at 119 stations.
- 20 lifts and 8 escalators installed.
- 2 Vande Bharat Express trains, connecting 5 districts.
This historic development of railways in Chhattisgarh will greatly improve passenger facilities and will give new impetus to economic and industrial progress in the state.
