NIT Raipur organises blood donation, health camp

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur’s Sahyog – The Student Wellbeing Club organised a noble Blood Donation and Health Camp in association with AIIMS Raipur and manav sewa blood center on 25th February 2025. The Inaugural event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur as the Chief Guest and Dr. Nitin Jain, Dean (Student Welfare) as the Guest of Honor. The event was driven successfully under the adept guidance of Dr. Ashish Das, Dr. Madhukrishna Priyadarshini Faculty In-charge’s, Sahyog.

The event commenced with the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Director, marking the official launch of the initiative. Mentors from Sahyog shared that the Team stands as an organisation dedicated to aid societal and academic growth leading to holistic development. Given the prevalent blood scarcity in Chhattisgarh, this initiative aligns with the core motto of – Collaboration, reflected in the name, “Sahyog”. This was followed by the presentation of saplings to the distinguished guests as a gesture of appreciation and a token of honor.

Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao congratulated Team Sahyog on organizing the voluntary blood donation camp, emphasizing the vital role of blood donation in saving lives. He highlighted the pivotal role of blood donation in supporting patients suffering from chronic illnesses. He also stressed the importance of adequate blood supply in hospitals to meet emergency situations. Additionally, he mentioned the health benefits of blood donation such as stimulating more blood production and overall well-being of the individual. He encouraged everyone to contribute, stating that a single drop of blood could be a lifeline for someone in need.

The Health Camp featured Free Eye-Checkup, Dental Check-up, Homeopathy Consultation and good nutrition health sessions conducted under the supervision of reputed doctors and nutritionist teams. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, marking the beginning of the blood donation drive. The event successfully set the momentum for community engagement, reinforcing the spirit of social responsibility and fraternity. Around 800 people participated in the entire event. More than 300 people were screened and more than 200 people donated blood in this wonderful celebration of blood donation.
