SEBI Chairman: Tuhin Kant Pandey to be new SEBI head , replaces Madhabi Puri Buch

New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Tuhin Kant Pandey will be new head of SEBI. The central government appointed Tuhin Kant Pandey as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He will replace Madhabi Puri Buch, whose term ends on Friday. Madhabi Puri Buch was the first woman SEBI chief. The government order said that Tuhin Pandey has been appointed as the Chairman of SEBI for 3 years.
It may be mentioned that Madhavi Puri Buch took over as the head of SEBI in March 2022. She was the first woman to be appointed to this post. Her tenure is ending today on 28 February. During her tenure, many serious allegations were leveled against her after some controversies related to the Adani Group came to light by the American company Hindenburg Research. After this, opposition parties demanded her resignation and made possible allegations of bias in the work of SEBI.
Tuhin Pandey has held many important positions in his career. He has served as Secretary in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Department of Public Enterprises (DPI) and Department of Personnel and Training. Apart from these, he has also played a role in the regional office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Tuhin Pandey has also held senior positions in the Planning Commission (now Niti Aayog), Cabinet Secretariat and Ministry of Commerce. Under the Odisha government, he has served as administrative head in the Health, General Administration, Commercial Tax, Transport and Finance departments. In the field of education, he holds a master’s degree in economics from Punjab University and an MBA from the University of Birmingham, UK.
