Congress leader absconding, accused of being involved in corruption

Dantewada (Team Newsbuddy): An FIR has been lodged against District Congress Committee President Awadhesh Gautam in Kirandul police station. He has been accused of corruption worth crores of rupees in road construction. On the instructions of the government, PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana) department has lodged an FIR against him. Awadhesh Gautam is said to be absconding. Dantewada police is searching for him.
In fact, the approval for road construction from Madkamiras to Hiroli in Dantewada district’s most Naxal-affected area was given in two parts. The then collector Vineet Nandanwar divided this road into two parts and approved Rs. 1 crore 96 lakh and Rs. 1 crore 99 lakh for it. The tender process of this road was also in question. At that time Congress was in power in the state.

According to sources, Congress district president and contractor Awadhesh Gautam had stopped the contractors from participating in this tender process. By making a deal with the officials, he got the work order at 10 percent higher rate.
