Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): During the urban body and panchayat elections, there was a lot of liquor sale in Kawardha. Excise department figures show that people of Kawardha drank liquor worth 69 crores within 2 months. Excise department officer Ajay Kumar Dhruv said that in Kabirdham district, liquor worth 69 crores has been sold in January and February of the year 2025. Last year, in January and February of 2024, 47 crores were sold. The excise department officer says that this year the department has made a good profit from liquor sales.
Drank liquor worth 69 crores: Excise department officer Ajay Kumar Dhruv also believes that the reason for more liquor sales could be the urban body and panchayat elections in the district. Along with this, Madai Mela is also a special reason. Excise officer Dhruv says that a large number of transporters come here to deliver sugarcane, due to which the sale of liquor increased in these two months.
Less population, more consumption: According to the 2011 census, the population of Kabirdham district was 8.5 lakhs. Now the population of Kawardha district is estimated to be around 10 lakhs. If even 3 lakh people drink liquor in a population of 10 lakhs, then drinking liquor worth Rs 69 crores within 60 days cannot be said to be good for the health of the people of any city.
