Finance Commission lauds Indore’s urban transformation

Indore: The 16th Finance Commission of India has lauded Indore for its exemplary urban development, efficient grant utilization, and visionary governance. During their visit, commission members— Annie George Mathew, Manoj Panda, Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, and Ritvik Pandey—expressed their admiration for the city’s progress. Mathew remarked, “Indore’s strategic use of grants is a model for other states. We are taking valuable insights from here.”
Indore’s Cleanliness Model: A National Inspiration
Before attending an event at Brilliant Convention Center, the Finance Commission delegation visited Indore’s trenching ground and praised its innovative waste management system. Mathew observed, “I never imagined waste could be transformed so beautifully. Indore exemplifies a unique culture where government, private enterprises, and citizens work together seamlessly.”
Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya underscored Indore’s legacy of teamwork and administrative efficiency. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava positioned Indore as “a city on the cusp of a major transformation, ready to rival Bangalore and Hyderabad in green mobility, AI, and digitalization.”
With over 1,000 new water and drainage lines laid in the past 2.5 years and an impressive energy savings of 17.5 million units in just two months, Indore’s growth trajectory remains robust. The mayor reaffirmed, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Indore’s development model will continue to inspire the nation.
