Jagdalpur: Leaders of both the major parties of the state have expressed their opposition to the vandalism and theft in the martyr’s memorial built here in memory of the Jheeram Ghati attack. By submitting a memorandum to the police, the leaders of both the parties demanded action.
It may be mentioned that the country’s biggest political attack was carried out by Naxalites in Bastar on 25 May 2013. This incident took place in Jhiram Valley. Congress leaders were brutally murdered in this attack. To honor the martyrs of this horrific incident, the Congress government formed in Chhattisgarh built the Jhiram Memorial at the historic Lalbagh ground in Jagdalpur city at a cost of crores of rupees, which was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on 25 May 2022. But anti-social elements have vandalized this memorial and changed its loot.In fact, the statues of the martyrs installed in Jheeram Shaheed Smarak and the lights installed below them along with their name plate strips have been vandalized. The lower part of the statues has also been damaged. When the Congressmen came to know about this, they blamed the corporation administration and the police administration in this matter. The organization has expressed its displeasure and has lodged an FIR against the anti-social elements and the corporation administration in the matter and has demanded strict action against the culprits.
Meanwhile BJP leaders have also submitted a memorandum to the police and demanded that whoever has vandalized the place should not be spared. The police has started investigating the entire matter.
