School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal meets Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

Agrawal requested Union Minister of Education Pradhan to establish Navodaya Vidyalayas and Central Schools in all districts of Chhattisgarh

Raipur(TEAM NEWS BUDDY).School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal met Union Minister of Education and Skill Development, Dharmendra Pradhan, in New Delhi. Brijmohan Agrawal requested the Union Minister of Education to establish Navodaya Vidyalayas and Central Schools in all districts of Chhattisgarh. He also urged the Central Government to increase its share in centrally sponsored educational schemes.

During the meeting, School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal informed Pradhan that the Central Government’s schemes, including Samagra Shiksha, PM Yojana, Mid-Day Meal, etc., have a share distribution of 40% by the centre and 60% by the state. He highlighted the challenges faced by the state government due to the lack of increases in the allocated funds for various budget sub-heads for several years. He mentioned that out of the 33 districts in Chhattisgarh, Navodaya Vidyalayas and Central Schools have been approved in 16 districts. He requested Pradhan to approve Navodaya and Central Schools in the remaining districts and an increase in the budget allocation for providing free uniforms to schoolchildren.

School Education Minister Agrawal approved Rs. 26.06 crore for the ‘Laikaa Sanwar’ Yojana under Samagra Shiksha. Additionally, he approved Rs. 110.86 crore for the reimbursement of tuition fees for children admitted to private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. He has also urged for the inclusion of schools developed under the PM Yojana in the past two years as benchmark schools and the inclusion of higher secondary schools as benchmark schools.

School Education Minister Agrawal requested Shri Pradhan to reopen the portal for the Pradhan Mantri Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM USHA) for the state. He mentioned that the deadline for submitting proposals in all segments of this scheme was set for November 30, but due to being engaged in the legislative elections, they were unable to submit proposals within the specified time.

School Education Minister Agrawal stated that there is a need for maximum approval of the central government’s schemes to implement the provisions of the development of higher education, spread awareness about various schemes, and implement the New Education Policy (NEP). He urged for prompt approval and allocation of proposals under the PM USHA Yojana. The Union Minister has provided positive assurance on various proposals, expressing a commitment to the constructive initiation of the plans.
