: In a historic decision fusing history with future-dynamic governance, the Madhya Pradesh Cabinet conducted an out-of-the-ordinary sitting in the city’s historic Rajwada Palace on Tuesday to mark the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar — a timeless embodiment of people-friendly leadership. The meeting was a symbolic gesture of homage to her legacy while preparing the ground for path-breaking changes in infrastructure, city planning, public health, and women’s empowerment.

₹249.66 crore approved for working women’s hostels

To boost women’s workforce participation and provide a safe, supportive environment, the Madhya Pradesh government has greenlit the construction of 26 working women’s hostels across four industrial zones—Vikram Udyogpuri (Ujjain), Pithampur Sectors 1 & 2 (Dhar), Malanpur Ghirongi (Bhind), and Mandideep (Raisen)—at a cost of ₹249.66 crore. With a total capacity of 5,572 beds (222 per hostel), these facilities will be developed by MPIDC Ltd. under the Government of India’s “Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2024-25” scheme.
Equipped with modern amenities like parking, food courts, recreational rooms, pantries, dining areas, and creches, these hostels prioritize women’s safety, affordable meals, and low-cost accommodation, making work-life balance more achievable.

₹2,195 crore for Advait Lok in Omkareshwar

The state cabinet has approved a revised budget of ₹2,195.54 crore for the Ekam Dham Project, featuring the construction of the Acharya Shankar Museum “Advait Lok” in Omkareshwar. This ambitious project includes the Advait Lok Museum, Acharya Shankar International Advait Vedanta Institute, Advait Nilayam, a project information center, Shankar Setu, and Abhay Ghat, celebrating India’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

₹1,095 crore to transform healthcare in Indore and Rewa

The cabinet has sanctioned ₹1,095 crore to upgrade healthcare infrastructure at Maharaja Yashwant Rao Hospital (Indore) and Shyam Shah Medical College (Rewa). In Indore, ₹773.07 crore will fund a new hospital building, a mini auditorium, a nursing hostel, parking, and external development works. In Rewa, ₹321.94 crore will support the construction of an OPD block, maternity block, staff quarters, nursing college, and hostel, enhancing medical services and education.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and his Council of Ministers, dressed in traditional Malwi turbans, welcomed the session with the national anthem and Vande Mataram, turning Rajwada into a confluence of leadership and heritage. While the session was future-oriented, Forest Minister Vijay Shah’s absence, due to controversy over his comments on Army Colonel Sophia Qureshi, was deeply felt.

This symbolic but strategic sit-down not only soaked in the brilliant history of Indore but also set the stage for a courageous, embracing, and compassionate future for Madhya Pradesh.
