Youth Tourism Club members of NIT Raipur under take heritage walk
2 min readRaipur(TEAM NEWS BUDDY).A series of ‘Raipur Heritage Walks’ is being organized by Chhattisgarh Nodal Office of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in collaboration with India Tourism Mumbai for Youth Tourism Club students of Chhattisgarh State. Under which, 30 members of the Youth Tourism Club of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur participated.
This heritage walk started from Lily Chowk and ended at Turi Hatari via Nagaridas Temple, Bajrangbali Baoli, Akhara, Jaitusav Math, Jagannath Temple. The walk was led by Shivam Trivedi, Founder of Heritagewala and the heritage sites located in the Purani Basti area were beautifully explained. Nagari Das Temple, located in Purani Basti, is famous for its art, architecture, intricately crafted sculptures of gods, goddesses and mythological creatures. This temple was built by the donor late Gajraj Singh Saav . It was built by Madhukar Sav in about the year 1835. The idols of Lord Ramchandra, Sitamata and Lakshman ji are installed in this temple. There are statues of Narasimha avatar on the eastern wall of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and Vamana avatar on the western wall and various beautiful and attractive figures are carved on the stones. This temple is known as Nagaridas Temple because of the ancient Mahant Shwe Nagaridas . On this occasion, the organization of heritage walk was appreciated by Mahendra Aggarwal, Secretary of Jaitusav Math and the students were introduced in detail about the history of the Math.
During the heritage walk, all the participants were made aware of responsible and sustainable tourism and were also administered the oath of Travel for Life. On this occasion, Mayank Dubey, Manager of Tourism Ministry Chhattisgarh Nodal Office and Assistant Manager Radhika Sharma, Dr. Govardhan Bhatt, Teacher Coordinator of Youth Tourism Club of NIT Raipur participated.
