Indore(Team Newsbuddy): In a shocking case of deceit and blackmail, a 30-year-old woman was arrested in Indore for allegedly extorting ₹24 lakh from a 61-year-old man by threatening to leak compromising videos. The incident, reported at Kanadiya police station, has led to the freezing of the accused’s bank accounts, with ₹19 lakh put on hold, as the police uncover a possible pattern of targeting affluent men.
According to authorities, the victim, Madan Singh, a 61-year-old resident of Bichauli Mardana village, filed a complaint on May 22. Singh revealed that the accused, employed at a grocery store owned by Vineet Jain and rented from him, initiated contact and gradually gained his trust. In December 2023, she persuaded him to travel to Ujjain, where they stayed at a hotel. Unbeknownst to Singh, the woman secretly recorded explicit photos and videos during their stay. She then used these to blackmail him, threatening to make them viral unless he paid her. Over two years, Singh transferred approximately ₹24 lakh to her under duress before approaching the police.
Police station in-charge Saharsh Yadav confirmed the victim’s account, stating that the woman confessed to the crime during interrogation. Authorities have frozen her bank accounts, securing ₹19 lakh, and are conducting a thorough investigation. Further probes revealed that the accused had previously filed a rape case against another individual at Kanadiya police station but later retracted her statement in court. This has prompted police to investigate whether she has similarly targeted other victims.
Preliminary findings suggest the woman strategically preyed on men from wealthy and reputable families. Given Singh’s affluent background, he became a prime target. The police are now exploring whether she has ensnared others in similar schemes, as the investigation continues to unravel the extent of her actions.
