Indore:
In a first-of-its-kind move, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has made history by building a school on its property for the first time, a giant step towards improving education among the poor. The ambitious project, which was started by Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, seeks to blend modern education with cultural values, and in doing so, creates a new trend in public schooling in the city.
Mayor Bhargav highlighted the importance of this achievement by saying, “The IMC had always been tasked with the upgradation and maintenance of schools, but for the first time, we are constructing a new school on our land.” He pointed out that earlier, the corporation was only repairing old schools or constructing classrooms, but it was the very first effort to provide quality education and health facilities to the poor and needy.

Infrastructure to compete with private schools

The mayor explained the IMC’s intention to finish the school on schedule and equip it with luxury amenities similar to private schools. The school will have smart classrooms, LED screens, and other state-of-the-art comforts to offer quality education to the students. “We aim to make healthcare and education available to the poor with the best facilities,” Bhargav added.

Combining education with cultural values

Besides studies, the school would be a center for value and culture education in the spirit of Swami Vivekananda’s vision. Mayor Bhargav asked the District Education Officer to introduce Sanskrit education as a compulsory subject, stressing the importance of cultural education along with conventional education.
This IMC project promises to be a landmark in education, medical facilities, and infrastructural development. The foundation stone was laid by local MLA Malini Gaur, corporator Gurjeet Kaur Khanuja, MIC member Rakesh Jain, and other local members and citizens, depicting overall citizen support for this path-breaking project.
