Dr Acharya highlights symptoms & risk factors of neck cancer
Indore (Team Newsbuddy): Sri Aurobindo Dental College organized an awareness program to commemorate “World Head & Neck Cancer Day” on Saturday. In which Dr. Jayashree Tapadia-Dean Student Welfare, Sri Aurobindo University, Dr. Kanteswari IK-Dean, Aurobindo Dental College, Dr. Geeti Wazdi Mitra- Director, PG Studies, Dr. Sandesh N- Head of Department, Community Dentistry graced the inaugural session and highlighted the importance of WHNCD.
Dr. Dilip Kumar Acharya, National President, IMA Cancer & Tobacco Control Committee was the Chief Guest Speaker who highlighted the symptoms and risk factors of head and neck cancer. He emphasized the need for controlling tobacco and betel nut consumption and moderate consumption of alcohol to prevent squamous cell cancer of head and neck. He showed several photographs of pre-cancerous lesions of the mouth and explained ways to quit tobacco. The lecture was well received and was followed by a Q&A session.
Dr. Shraddha Jaiswal, Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology also spoke about the pathological and diagnostic criteria of the disease. Faculty, PG and interns were present at the event.
