1 min read

New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Satyapal Malik, who was the governor of five states and a Union minister, was cremated at Lodhi Road crematorium in Delhi. He was not given state honours despite being eligible. Satyapal Malik was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, Meghalaya, Goa and Bihar. Apart from this, he was also a Union Minister. Despite this, his last rites were not performed with state honours.

After stepping down from the post of Governor of Kashmir, Malik became a vocal opponent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is believed that at the behest of the Modi government, the local administration did not give state honours to his mortal remains.

This is probably the first time that the funeral of a former governor, former Union minister has been performed without state honours. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, AAP leader Sanjay Singh, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni, JJP leader Dushyant Chautala, SP MP Harendra Malik etc. attended the funeral of Satyapal Malik.
