Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan to be NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate

New Delhi (Team Newsbuddy): Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan will be NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate. His name was agreed upon in the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting held on Sunday. Nadda announced Radhakrishnan’s name in a press conference. Many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were present in the meeting. Radhakrishnan will file nomination on August 21. During this, all the Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of NDA ruled states will also participate. Voting for the Vice Presidential election will be held on September 9. Counting will also take place on the same day. The last date for filing nomination is August 21. Candidature can be withdrawn till August 25.
Born on 20 October 1957 in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, Chandrapuram Ponnuswamy Radhakrishnan has been a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and is currently the Governor of Maharashtra. Radhakrishnan started his political career with RSS and Jan Sangh. He was elected Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore in 1998 and 1999. He was Tamil Nadu BJP President from 2003 to 2006.
In fact, Jagdeep Dhankhar suddenly resigned from the post of Vice President on the night of 21 July. 74-year-old Dhankhar’s tenure was till 10 August 2027. CP Radhakrishnan was the Governor of Jharkhand from February 2023 to July 2024. Apart from this, he also took additional charge of Telangana from March to July 2024 and additional charge of Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from March to August 2024. He has been holding the post of Governor of Maharashtra since 31 July 2024.
