Young Scientist Congress-2024 organised at NIT Raipur

Raipur. National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur and Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CCOST) jointly organized the 19th Chhattisgarh Young Scientist Congress (CYSC) 2024 on 26th February 2024 at DDU Auditorium. The event was organized under the patronage and guidance of Prof. N.V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur and Shri S.S. Bajaj, Director General, CCOST. The conveners of this event were Dr Dilip Singh Sisodia and Dr Rakesh Tripathi, from NIT Raipur and Dr. (Mrs.) JK Rai, CCOST.
The Chhattisgarh Young Scientist Congress, organized annually by CCOST in collaboration with various institutions, commemorates the discovery of the “Raman effect” by Indian physicist C.V. Raman. It provides a platform for budding scientists to showcase their contributions, share innovative ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions with experts and peers, fostering networking and collaboration within the scientific community. Upwards of 298 Research Papers were submitted and 207 Research Papers were accepted for presentation. The 2-Day event would conclude tomorrow with a Valedictory Session.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. P.K. Sinha, Director, IIIT Naya Raipur and Special Guest Dr. Purnendu Saxena, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Director, VY Hospital.

Prof. N.V. Ramana Rao expressed hope that through mission of “Viksit Bharat@2047”, India would evolve into a developed nation with science and technology playing a pivotal role. Emphasizing the importance of innovation in addressing climate change, he highlighted the government’s commitment to education, society, and research. He also pledged to advance Chhattisgarh on the path of science and technology, ensuring its progress and prosperity. Shri S.S Bajaj extended a warm welcome to all attendees. He advocated for the patenting of new innovations, highlighting the importance of fostering a culture of innovation. He also shed light on the National Children’s Science Congress, which aims to nurture scientific temperament among young minds aged 10 to 17 years by showcasing their talent at the central level.

Dr. P.K Sinha encapsulated the essence collective action towards a brighter future. He acknowledged the significance of the day, stating that it is indeed a great day for Chhattisgarh. He emphasized the importance of having a national vision under “Viksit Bharat@2047”, that unites all citizens towards a common goal. He presented the innovation brought by IIIT Naya Raipur in making a portal with CCOST to search for available research equipment availablity throughout different universities. He concluded by urging everyone to embrace innovation, as it was the only key to progress.

Dr. Purnendu Saxena delved into the rapid evolution of the world, particularly in the field of research. He also sheds light on the demographic shifts and challenges that accompany such advancements, including population growth and the imperative role of scientists and innovation. He discussed the intricate workings of neurotransmitters like oxytocin and dopamine, emphasizing their influence on societal dynamics. He elucidated the dichotomy wherein regions with sparse populations gravitate towards robotics and AI, while densely populated areas rely on industries and human capital.

The Book of Abstract was released and mementos and shawls were presented to all the dignitaries. The event concluded with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Dilip Kumar Sisodiya.

On the second day of the event, papers will be presented in the morning session and the closing ceremony will be held in the afternoon session in which the names of the winners will be announced
