Category 3C VFR licence issued to Ambikapur Airport
1 min readRaipur, Through the special initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for the expansion of air services in the state, a Category 3C VFR licence has been issued to Ambikapur Airport. An application for licencing was submitted to the Director General of Civil Aviation in December 2022 for the operation of air services from Ambikapur. The much-awaited licence for Ambikapur Airport was issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India. With the licencing of Ambikapur Airport, three airports, including Bilaspur and Jagdalpur, are now licenced under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) in the state. With the Category 3C VFR licence obtained, air services can now commence from Ambikapur Airport with a 72-seater aircraft.
The state government is making consistent efforts to initiate air services from Ambikapur Airport to Raipur, Bilaspur, Lucknow, Patna, and Ranchi. The commencement of air services from the Ambikapur airport will boost tourism and commercial activities in the northern region of the state, which will propel the development of the region.
