CPI (ML) condemns arrest of Kejriwal
2 min readRaipur. CPI (ML) Red Star strongly condemns the arrest Of Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on charges of corruption and money laundering in the formulation and execution of Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22. This is the first time that a chief minister is arrested in the country without even submitting a charge-sheet in the Court.
Earlier, Hemant Soren, the Jharkhand chief minister was arrested only after he was forced to resign in a case relating to a piece of land he allegedly owns in Ranchi city, which the ED claims he bought through “proceeds of crime” by illegally selling land owned by the Indian army. Now CBI has filed charge-sheet against TMC leader Mahua Moitra after she was expelled from Lok Sabha for alleged “unethical conduct”. In the same vein, innumerable cases are already there on opposition leaders across the country, who are resolutely challenging the regime.
At a time when, BJP’s unholy nexus with the most corrupt crony capitalists are exposed through “Electoral Bonds” which the Supreme Court has struck down as unconstitutional, and as vast majority of the people are realising the heinous moves of the fascist regime, Modi regime is scared of the poll outcome, even as the anti-BJP trend is strengthening and opposition alliance is setting aside their differences. Obviously, at a time when not even a single leader close to the BJP regime faces any enquiry or charges despite many allegations, opposition leaders are relentlessly targeted and persecuted using central agencies. No doubt, the BJP’s aim is to divert people’s attention from such core issues as corruption which are flourishing under the regime.
In this context, it is high time on the part of all democratic forces to rise up and resolutely condemn the arrest of Kejriwal and ongoing witch-hunt on other opposition leaders. We appeal to the people of India to come forward and defeat the fascist BJP regime in the General Election.
