Naxalite incident: Rs 15 lakh given to injured BastarFighters

Raipur. As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 15 lakh each is being approved as per Chhattisgarh State Compensation Rules for two soldiers of Bastar Fighters employed in election work who were injured in Naxalite incident during election duty.

Chief Electoral Officer Reena Babasaheb Kangale informed that under the Lok Sabha Elections-2024, a joint search operation is being conducted by DRG, Bastar Fighters and CRPF security forces in the border areas of Bijapur, Sukma and Dantewada of Bastar Lok Sabha constituency before the first phase of elections. On 22 March 2024, two constables of Bastar Fighters were injured after coming in the grip of pressure IED during joint Naxal patrol search in Police Station Aranpur and Police Station Jagargunda of border district Sukma and Police Station Gangalur area of ​​​​District Bijapur. After first aid in Jagargunda, both the constables have been referred to Raipur by helicopter for better treatment.

Chief Electoral Officer Kangale informed that as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, in the event of death or injury during election duty of officers, employees and security personnel employed for election work, approval of ex-gratia amount is given as per Chhattisgarh State Compensation Rules. Action is being taken to approve ex-gratia compensation payment amount of Rs 15 lakh each to two injured soldiers of Bastar Fighters in Naxalite incident during election duty in District South Bastar Dantewada.
