Raipur. The High Court’s decision has come in the murder case of NCP leader Ramavtar Jaggi, who changed the condition and direction of the state’s politics. The High Court rejected the appeal of the accused in the Jaggi murder case and upheld the life imprisonment sentence of 28 accused.

The High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Arvind Verma Division Bench have upheld the sentence of life imprisonment. Among those sentenced to life imprisonment, the life imprisonment sentence of 28 accused including two then CSPs and one then police station in-charge, Aman Goyal and shooter Chiman Singh has been upheld.

The NCP leader was shot dead on 4 June 2003. 31 accused were made in this case, out of which two Baltu Pathak and Surendra Singh became government witnesses. Except one Amit Jogi, the rest 28 people were convicted, after which the accused filed an appeal in the High Court challenging the lower court’s decision. After the High Court rejected the appeal of the convicts, Ramavtar Jaggi’s son Satish Jaggi said that I had faith in the judiciary. All the accused were sentenced. Our family kept saying from the beginning that this was a political conspiracy.

It is worth noting that Ramavtar Jaggi was a leader of NCP. He was a very close leader of former late Union Minister Vidya Charan Shukla. He was murdered near Maudhapara police station. Former late CM Ajit Jogi’s son Amit Jogi was also made an accused in this murder case but he was later released.
