56 acre land given to Bangladesh after BSF survey

Dhaka: A decision was taken after survey by BSF and Bangladesh Border Guard and 50 years later India has handed over 56.86 acres of land to Bangladesh and got 14.68 acres in return.
After 50 years, land has been exchanged between India and Bangladesh. People of Bangladesh have called it an Eid gift. India has handed over 56.86 acres of land of Ranishankoi Upazila of Thakurgaon border to Bangladesh. In response, India has also received 14.68 acres of land from Bangladesh. The land was exchanged in a flag meeting between BSF (Border Security Force) from India and BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) from Bangladesh. An agreement for land exchange was signed between India and Bangladesh in 1974, but no action could be taken regarding Ranishankoi. After the new agreement in 2015, this process gained momentum. It is being told that many agencies including BSF and BGB will conduct surveys for division in other districts as well.Survey in eight other districts will lead to division of land According to sources, a survey is proposed for division of land in eight other districts of Bangladesh. This will enable division of land between the two countries. Other agencies along with BSF and BGB will be involved in the survey. The survey will be completed by the end of the year.scape Right now, the decision on government land and rights will be taken later. The land Bangladesh got from India will be called Khas Khatian (government land) for now. The rights of the people will be decided later. Out of the land Bangladesh got, 48.12 acres is cultivable land, 6.87 acres is tea garden and 1.87 acres is river peta cultivated land.
BGB Captain Lieutenant Colonel Tanzir Ahmed says that the land exchange between the two countries has happened in a cordial manner. We have got the Eid gift. We thank the BSF for this. Till now we used to hear from the elders about our land in the Indian part, now we will be able to go there and do farming.
