Indore’s Vivaan Jain steals the show, beats top seeded Ankit Gajwa

Indore : In the ongoing Late Abhay Chhajlani Memorial Second UICC FIDE Rating Chess Competition with a prize money of Rs. 3 lakhs, Vivaan Jain of Indore upsets top seeded FIDE Master Ankit Gajwa here.
According to Sunil Soni (secretary, United Indore Chess Club) after the eighth round, Pushkar Dere of Maharashtra, Gaurav Nigam and Ashwin Daniel of Madhya Pradesh are in the second place with 7 points, while FIDE Master Vrushank Chauhan, FIDE Master SK Rathore, CM Rupesh Kant, Chaitanya Avadh, Prakash Yadav, Vivaan Jain, Vaibhav Nema, Priyanshu Patil, Palak Patel and Nishit Singh are in the third place with 6.5 points.
Upset
Vivaan Jain (1597) surprised everyone in the eighth round by defeating Indore’s top player and FIDE Master Ankit Gajwa (2230) and causing an upset.
During the game, Vivaan Jain played Sicilian Dragon, Ankit Gajwa with experience was in a good position but due to lack of time, his foot was killed and finally he lost the game due to flag down.
Center of attraction
The main attraction of the competition and rated player in Madhya Pradesh who plays chess seriously and has won awards in big competitions many times, Indore Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Siddharth Jain has performed brilliantly in this competition and has scored 5.5 points so far, in which he has again made his mark by defeating 2 rated players and drawing with one. Dewas Collector Rishav Gupta has also scored 4.5 points by drawing with rated players, which also shows the high playing level of these officers and they have become an inspiration for others.
Now after the final ninth round, 102 winners will be declared to whom the prize money of Rs 3 lakh will be distributed as prize ceremony.
