Indore: The city’s talented players Anya Rathi and Trishir Dhawan performed well and entered the finals of two categories in the Daily College Open All India Ranking Tennis Tournament. The final match of the girls under-12 age group will be played between Anya Rathi and Ritika Deshpande. In the boys’ singles category, Pranav Gaikwad will face Trishir Dhawan.
Players from all over the country are participating in the competition being played at Daily College. Semi-final matches of various categories were played on Thursday. Representing MP in the competition, players from Indore dominated. In the semi-finals of the girls’ 12 years age group, Anya Rathi clashed with Ahana Doshi. Both the players had registered many strong victories in their journey to the semi-finals. In such a situation, the match was expected to be tough, but the result was the opposite. Anya showed more aggression on the court and maintained the lead by scoring points against Ahana from the very beginning. Ahana’s game looked scattered in front of her fast paced game. Ahana could not score any points in the first set, but she improved her game in the second set. She could score only two points in the second set and Anya entered the final by winning the match 6-0, 6-2. In the second semi-final, Shravya Sojatiya and Ritika Deshpande were face to face on the court. Shravya was not in form like in the previous matches and Ritika took advantage of this. Ritika collected points at crucial moments and due to lagging behind in the match, Shravya kept making mistakes under pressure. Taking advantage of this, Ritika won this important match 6-2, 6-2.
In the first semi-final of the 12 years age group of boys, there was a competition between Pranav Gaikwad and Hitarth Surana. The heat of the day also tested both the players. Despite this, both stood firm and challenged each other for every point. The first set of the match was very tough, in which Hitarth won 7-5.
In the girls’ doubles category, the pair of Anya Rathi and Shravya Sojatia entered the finals by registering a win. In the semi-finals, the pair of Anya and Shravya defeated the pair of Ayan Patwari and Tiana Thakkar. A tough competition was expected as all the players who reached the semi-finals were experienced, but the result of the match was the opposite. The pair of Anya and Shravya were in such an aggressive mood that they did not let the opposing pair score even a single point in the entire match. Leading the team, Anya controlled the match throughout with the help of better service and strong groundwork. Now in the final, the pair of Anya Rathi and Shravya Sojatia will face the pair of Anya Khan and Ahana Doshi. In the second semi-final, the pair of Anya and Ahana defeated the pair of Ritika and Ahana Ugadhe. The first set was very easy, but in the second set, Ritika and Ahana tried to make a comeback and improved their game. Both the pairs made a better effort in this set. In the end, Anya and Ahana won the match 6-1, 7-5 and secured their place in the final.
The pair of Trishir Dhawan and Ahaan Jain won the boys doubles semi-final. In the semi-final, the pair of Trishir and Ahaan faced the pair of Reyansh Bhalla and Abir Chaddha. The pair of Trishir and Ahaan played aggressively in the match. In the first set, they allowed the opponent pair to score only one point. In the second set, Reyansh and Abir improved their game, but they could add only one point. Trishir Dhawan and Ahaan Jain finally won the match 6-1, 6-2. Now in the final, they will face the pair of Hitarth Surana and Meeresh Girdhani. In another semi-final, the pair of Hitarth and Meeresh defeated the pair of Pranav Gaikwad and Vihaan Nawab 6-1, 6-2. This match was also dull in terms of result.
