138 elephants roaming in forests of Raigarh, being monitored by drones

Elephants are present every year in many ranges of both Raigarh and Dharamjaigarh forest divisions, which come out of the forests every day and knock on the residential areas to make their presence felt. Due to the ever increasing number of elephants, news of death of humans and elephants in the conflict between elephants and humans has often come to the fore. The forest department is keeping an eye on the movement of elephants roaming in the forest with drone cameras so that the villagers of elephant-affected villages can be warned about the elephants in advance.
Raigarh district is surrounded by mountains and dense forests. Apart from elephants, many other types of wild animals roam in the forests here. Due to the availability of sufficient amount of food and water in the forest, elephants have been camping here for the past several years. A drone camera video of a group of elephants roaming in the forest of Kudmura village in Raigarh district has also surfaced in which a group of elephants is seen roaming in the forest. The forest department officials keep a constant watch on the elephants roaming in the forest through drone cameras and make announcements in the entire village to caution the villagers when they see elephants. Along with this, they are also advised not to go towards the forest under any circumstances so that no incident of loss of life occurs in their area.
According to the information, these days 138 elephants are roaming in the forests of Raigarh district in different ranges of Raigarh and Dharamjaigarh forest divisions. This group includes 34 male elephants, 64 females and 40 children. In this group of elephants, maximum 32 elephants are in Khamhar beat of Boro, 2 elephants in Hati beat of Chhal, 12 elephants in Potiya beat of Dharamjaigarh, 10 elephants in Koyallar beat of Dharamjaigarh, 11 elephants in Kumarta east beat of Kapu, apart from this a group of elephants is roaming in different beats of Dharamjaigarh forest range. Similarly, maximum 13 elephants are in Katangdih beat of Gharghoda of Raigarh forest division, 8 in Navapara, 4 in Kantajharia, 3 in Kamatra apart from this one elephant each is roaming in Kerakhol east of Kasdol and Tamnar.
Damage to crops of 11 farmers
According to the information received from the forest department, elephants have damaged the crops of 11 farmers in different beats of Dharamjaigarh forest division on Sunday night. In which elephants have damaged the paddy crop of 4 farmers in Putukchar, damaged the paddy and groundnut crops of 4 farmers in Hati, damaged the paddy crop of one farmer each in Baisi, Khamhar, apart from this, paddy and groundnut crops have been damaged in Bhalmudi of Chhal.
